Helen J. Schneider Obituary


Helen J. Pokorney Schneider, 91 of Belle Vernon died Wednesday June 13, 2007 in Country Care Manor, Fayette City, after a long decline in health. Born August 23, 1915 in Pittsburgh, and moved with her family to Monessen as a child, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Marie Valek Pokorney. Mrs. Schneider had lived most of her adult life in Belle Vernon and was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Fayette City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Milton Schneider and six of her seven brothers and sisters of the Pokorney family including, Joseph, Louis, Edward, Rose, Sally, Marie, and a daughter in law Mae Schneider. Survivors include her son, Joseph C. Schneider and Grandson Robert M. Schneider both of Belle Vernon, one sister, Ethel Pokorney Grunick of Marienville, PA, her nieces, Lillian Hromey Balko of Lexington, KY, Beatrice Hromey Atkins of Daytona Beach FL, and Ethel Danilchak of Monessen, and a grand niece and best friend, Rosie Onda of Belle Vernon. She resided with her husband, Milton at the Belle Vernon apartments, taking residence there just after it's opening and remaining a resident after his death and until her illness in 2005. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10am with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen.
