Mrs. Helen Loraine Johns, 81, of New Windsor, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Transitions Health Care at Sykesville. Born May 6, 1929 in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Helen Kyte Jones. She was the wife of Roy W. Johns Sr., her husband of 58 years. Mrs. Johns was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Kingdom Hall at Pleasant Valley Road. She enjoyed recreational activities with her grandchildren, gardening and going to the beach. In addition to her husband she is survived by 3 daughters, Royce Snyder and husband Bruce, Kelly Barnes and husband Gary and Stacy Barton and husband James, all of New Windsor; 2 sons, Bruce Harris and Joann Webb of Dundalk and Roy W. “Chip” Johns Jr. and wife Karen of Savannah, GA; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Deborah Anderson and Diane Heathcote, both of Dundalk and a brother, James Jones of Rosedale. She was predeceased by a grandson, Douglas Harris, a great grandson, Craig Harris and a brother, William Jones Jr. A funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, with Gerry Etzler officiating. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Garrison Forest. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1131 S. Pleasant Valley Rd., Westminster, MD 21158.
