Helen Louise (Stewart) Grant, 100, of Macon, IL passed away at 7:08 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 21, 2013) at Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center.
A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2013) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Altamont, IL. Memorial contributions may be directed to the South Macon Fire Department.
Helen was born on June 6, 1913 in Macon, IL, the daughter of James Lee and Nellie (Lovelace) Stewart. She taught 3rd and 4th grade in Decatur, Mt. Zion and Macon for 50 years. Helen was a member of the American Business Association where she received the Women of the Year Award in 1975. She was a lifelong member of the Macon's Evening Women's Club where she served as president as well as other offices. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, past member of Theater Seven where she acted in several plays. Helen was a member of Macon Presbyterian Church where she served as the substitute organist.
Helen is survived by her step-daughter: Sharon Rohrbaugh from Rio, WV; friend and helper: Charlie Erbe of Moweaqua, IL; special friends: Billy Gene Baker of Cerro Gordo, IL, Mark and Ellen Hite, Charlie and Linda Williams, Tom and Joanne Berry all of Macon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.
