Helen P. Wigfield, 88, passed away peacefully January 4, 2012. She was born April 8, 1923 in Altoona, PA, the daughter of the late Maurice and Mabel Corbin. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, George Wigfield. Above all else, Helen cherished her family and was a loving and doting mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and friends, sewing, reading and cooking. She touched everyone who came to know her through her sense of humor, gentleness and enjoyment of life. Her silent strength was an inspiration for all. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Connie Graham and husband Pete of South Windsor, CT, Tom Wigfield and wife Annie of Chesapeake, VA, Pam Koblitz and husband Gary of Springfield, VA, and Pat Fattahian and husband David of Lorton, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeff and Rob Graham of Connecticut, Todd and Michael Wigfield of South Carolina, Katie Burton of Virginia, Kevin Koblitz of Virginia, Jackie Murdock of Virginia, and Brian Dodd of New York; as well as five great-grandchildren, Abby, Tyler and Kaitlyn Graham and Alyssa and Trey Burton. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to her caregivers at the Dogwood and Camellia Units at Lake Taylor Hospital. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Great Bridge Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Chesapeake with Rev. Ron Heath officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Helen Wigfield to the Alzheimer's Association – Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
