Helen Ruth Kenney was born in Spearmen, TX on her family's farm. She moved to Albuquerque in 1956 and lived here until her passing on December 17, 2011. She is survived by her beloved companion of 52 years, Martin Vigil of Albuquerque, and his daughters, Connie V. Spence, Teresa Muldez and husband, Francis Muldez; his grandchildren, Gabriel Spence, Rachel, Cassandra, Christopher and Marcus Muldez; her sister, Maxine Johnston of Pampa, TX; brother, Byron Kenney and wife, Barbara of Texline, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Laverna Kenney and brothers, Lonnie and Earl Kenney. Her organizational memberships included the Albuquerque Chapter of the National Secretary Association of which she was elected "Secretary of the Year" in 1965. She was also a long-standing member of the Unity Church. Helen's professional career started as a secretary with Val Reese and Associates in the lobby of the Simms Building where she worked for many years. In 1975, Helen purchased and managed Royal Beauty Supply on Lomas Blvd. for 11 years. In 1986, after creating a very successful business, she retired. Helen had a love for life and was known by everyone who knew her to be a beautiful person in spirit and physical presence. She had many, many wonderful friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. Among her dear friends are Betty and Larry Hargette, Tony and June Trazza, Bob and Clarice Day, Anita Endean, all her friends at Millie's Restaurant, all the people at Liberty Gym, and the "guys in the corner" at Village Inn on Menaul. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at French - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A service will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lomas Chapel.
