Helen Woodrow Born, 87 of Arkansas City died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Helen was born February 18, 1924 to David Thompson and Edna Mary (York) Thompson in Valley Center, KS. She attended Valley Center schools and Wichita North High School. On February 11, 1942 she married Harold J. Born. The couple made their home in Wichita until moving to Silverdale in 1976. Helen was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Arkansas City. She is survived by children, Shirley Qualls and husband Eugene of Fresno, CA, Vera Krueger and husband, Dan of Arkansas City, Beverly Masovero and husband, Frank of Fresno, CA, Sharon Born of Wichita, David Born and wife, Jani of Topeka; brother, Ben Thompson and wife, Rosie of Valley Center; sisters, Betty Patterson and husband, Larry of Mulvane, Nellie Woods and husband, Norman of Shell Knob, MO; 19 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Brenda Hilton; brother, LeRoy "Bud" Thompson; sister, Edith Kessler; granddaughter, Kimberly Masovero and grandson, Sean Sabastian. A memorial has been established with the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
