Helene M. Mommer, 90, of Ft. Wayne, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Born Sept. 24, 1921 in Fessenden, ND, Helen had been a switchboard operator with the Employment Security, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church's Adult Society, Quilting Society; Mission Circle; and one of St. John's Boiler Girls. She loved her family and cooking. She was a very caring and giving person. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (David) Bradtmiller of New Haven; son, Michael (Sherry) Mommer of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Jeff (Shellee) Bradtmiller, Jennifer (Nathan) Nix, Christina Mommer, Suzanne Mommer and Mariah (Phil) French; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kylie, Alex, Zac, Madelyn, Katelyn, Grant, Carson, Micah, Silas and Ziva; and sister, Viola Cifra of CA. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rolland; parents, Ralph and Flora Cook and siblings, Ralph, Betty, Rudy, Jake, Peggy, John and Lee. Funeral service is 10 am, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd. with calling one hour prior. Rev. Vernan Graham officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Friday at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd. Burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
