Mr. Henry M. Hardsock, 82 of 2813 Railroad Street, Pond Bank, PA and a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, PA entered into eternal rest at 6:30 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the nursing home. He was born on April 4, 1929 in Pond Bank; he was the son of the late Irvin T. and Iva Mae (Rock) Hardsock. He was a lifelong resident of Pond Bank, entering the nursing home on November 18, 2011. Mr. Hardsock attended the Pond Bank School. Henry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and his wife of over 60 years, Mrs. Betty L. (Bumbaugh) Hardsock were married on February 3, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to the present residence in 1954. Mr. Hardsock was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a mechanic in the missile division. He retired in 1985. He also worked part-time for Breams Orchards in Orrtanna, PA picking apples and in the packing plant. Henry was a member of the Pond Bank Independent Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, usher and served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of South Mountain Fish and Game Association and the national AARP. Besides picking apples, Henry enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, fishing at the bay and hunting. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Wanda S. Hoover; Cindy M. Baker and husband Charles; Michael E. Hardsock and wife Amy; and Kevin L. Hardsock all of Pond Bank, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Delvia Kalichun of Mercersburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Crider, Ruth N. Beaver and Mary L. Pensinger, five brothers, Samuel Edward Hardsock, Harry Hardsock, Clarence Hardsock, David C. Hardsock, Sr. and Irvin Crawford Hardsock. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in Pond Bank Independent Church, 6704 White Rock Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Dr. Mervil R. Stambaugh and Pastor William A. Shank officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro.
