Henry "Hank" W. Oestreich, Jr. was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2012. He was a beloved husband, father, and "Papa". He was born on January 1, 1925 in Hamburg, Germany to Sophie J. and Heinrich W. Oestreich. He was a World War II Veteran in the 77th Division of the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific as an infantry radio man. He served in Guam, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa, and was part of the occupation force of Japan. He was married to his late wife Dorothy "Dot" for 63 years. He and his wife moved to Orlando, Florida from Michigan in 1952, and later moved to Ocoee, Florida in 2002. For many years, he and his wife were known and respected as coach and score keeper for the Delaney Park Little League. He was a Christian man and belonged to Masonic Lodge #69 for over 50 years. Hank "TGO" was a one of a kind. He was always there with a listening ear and a helping hand. Following retirement from the insurance industry, Hank and his wife enjoyed traveling the countryside with their camping group in their RV. They also enjoyed cruising with family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries and westerns.
He is survived by his children Carl H. Oestreich (Judy), Nancy J. Oestreich, Gretchen O. Boyce (Richard), Mark A. Oestreich (Susan), and Eric W. Oestreich (Inger), his grandchildren Kristina Knight (Adrian), Holly Bass (Ashley), Heather, Joy Redditt (John), Kathleen Burkhardt (Michael), Natalie L. Oestreich, and Ian R.H. Oestreich, and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend and brother-in-law Robert A. Boomer, sister-in-law Joyce Boomer, nieces Diana Mackinder (Douglas), Audrey Norling (Dave), Deborah Atkins, and nephew Lawrence Winger (Stephanie). Services will be held on January 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 4962 Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida 32819.
