Herman L. Ashcroft, Jr. 87, of Hot Springs, went to be with our Lord on Thursday September 08, 2011. He was born June 30, 1924 in Old Joyce, Louisiana to Herman Ashcroft, Sr. & Cora Bridges. He was married to William (Willie) Lois Maloch in Norphlet, Arkansas on Sept. 14, 1947. Herman & Willie lived in Hot Springs for 54 years.

Herman loved all of his family, his church, hunting, fishing and travel by R.V., cruise and tours seeing all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and most of Europe. He retired from Safeway after 40 years service as meat department manager. He was a member of Oaklawn United Methodist Church where he served as chair of several committees and chairman of the Administrative Board and also served as Scout Master for old Troop 12 at Oaklawn United Methodist Church, was a member of Elks Lodge 308 and chaired several committees and he also served as president of Oaklawn Hunting Club for several years.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Jim Ashcroft, sisters, Patsy Gullege, Marie Carmen & Helen Boothe and one grandson, Brandon Ashcroft.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Willie Ashcroft; sister, Juanita Walser of Crossett, AR.; two sons, Herman & wife Dianne Ashcroft III of Story, AR. & David Condry Ashcroft of Hot Springs; four grandsons, Ian Ashcroft & Dylan Ashcroft of Hot Springs, Matthew & Christian Ashcroft of Crossett; two great grandchildren, Lilith Ashcroft and Enoch Ashcroft and numerous nieces & nephews. Herman was beloved by family and friends and he will be missed.

Pallbearers will be Roger Almond, Harvey Miller, Roger Moreland, Randy Burroughs, Donnie Golden, Jimmy Fulkerson, George Ward & Lamar Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Spencer, Don Lowenberg, Calvin Burroughs, Ed Randolph, Members of Elks Lodge 380, members of Oaklawn Hunting Club and members of Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Gross Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Hunter officiating.

Memorials may be made to Oaklawn United Methodist Church or Charity of choice.
