COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Hilda Ruth Lawrence Wise, 88, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Main Street United Methodist Church, Ferguson Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Joe Cal Watson. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Wise went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Born in Selma, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Bearden Lawrence. She was a loyal member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fidelity Sunday School class for over 60 years. She was also a member of Eastern Star Chapter 59 for over 50 years.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Thomas Marion Wise Jr. of Columbia; daughters, Margaret Wise of Irving, Texas, Carol Eden (Edward) of West Columbia, Suzanne Wise of Columbia; grandchildren Edward Eden Jr. of West Columbia, Mary Eden of York; and her beloved poodle, Prince. She was the last surviving member of the Lawrence family.
