Age 96, of Albuquerque, passed away on February 2, 2012. Dr. Shook was married to the former Catherine Orsbone of Merkel, Texas. The Shooks are parents of three daughters, Miree Cravens and husband, Lamar, Becky Mathes and husband, Larry and Dorothy Gilland and husband, Lloyd. They also have eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Dr. Shook was raised in Forrest, New Mexico. He attended Southwest University, Georgetown, Texas where earned his BA and also attended Garret School of Theology, Evanston, Illinois, where he obtained his Master of Theology. Dr. Shook received his license to preach in the Clovis District in 1938, and was Ordained an Elder in 1948. Since 1950 Dr. Shook was Pastor at Hillcrest, Carlsbad; St. Mark's, El Paso; First, Deming; Harwood, Albuquerque, St. Paul's, Albuquerque and First United Methodist of Farmington. His other Appointments included Conference Council Director in 1972; Director, Council on Professional Ministries and New Mexico Methodist foundation in 1975; and Carlsbad District Superintendent in 1978. Dr. Shook retired in May, 1981. His Conference Responsibilities included being Chairman, Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; Trustee, Landsun Homes; Trustee, McMurry College, ex-officio; Committee on Interpretation; Committee on Disability; Joint Distributing Committee; Conference Director of Adult Work. Dr. Shook's District Responsibilities included Director of Evangelism, Director of Adult Work; Director of Youth Work and Albuquerque District Committee on Church Location. Dr. Shook's Honors included Doctor of Divinity, McMurry College, 1973; "Who's Who in Methodism", 1950; "Personalities of the West and Southwest", 1976; and "Who's Who in Religion", 1975. Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona Street, N.E., interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Boulevard N.E.
