Lloyd McJunkin
Easley - Hovey Lloyd McJunkin, 85, of Easley, passed from this life Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Mr. McJunkin was born in Dacusville, a son of the late Ruben Leonard and Molly Leona Howell McJunkin. He was retired from Duke Power Co. after 35 years service. Mr. McJunkin was a veteran of the U. S. Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1946 as a machinist serving in the Pacific and in particular, Okinawa. He received an AS degree from Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton where he later went on to teach.
Mr. McJunkin was an active member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Easley where he formerly taught the Glen Williams Sunday School Class, sang in the choir and played guitar for specials at the church. He was well known for his love of gardening and the vegetables and flowers he cultivated.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Juanita McCauley McJunkin of the home, a son Tim McJunkin of Two Egg, FL, daughters Kathy Somerville of Central, SC, Nancy Hudson of Jasper, AL, and Deborah Chandler of Weaverville, NC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, sisters Gladys Gillespie of Easley, SC and Clara Crowe of Anderson, SC, and a brother Thomas McJunkin of Walterboro, SC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McJunkin was preceded in death by sisters Lucille McJunkin and Aileen Garrett and a brother Louis McJunkin.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Saturday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
