Hoyt Bentley Washington was born to Hosea Bentley and Bamer Washington, in Little Rock, Arkansas also from this union were his sisters Ava, Cortez, Emma Lois, Maxine and his only brother, Howard. Hoyt later migrated to Chicago where he was educated under the Chicago Public School System. He served in the United States Army and completed his Basic Training in Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC and served in WW II. Hoyt and Iva joined in union with daughter, Rosemary. They were happily married in 1980 and remained married until his death, January 5, 2012. Hoyt spent his last few years with his wife and daughter in St. Louis. These days seemed to have come so suddenly. But during these few years Hoyt enjoyed "Soul Food Sundays". Kim thought having "Soul Food Sundays" just for dad would make him more comfortable and not miss Denver so much. He leaves to cherish: his loving wife, Iva; daughters, Rosemary (Jimmie), Kimnita (Richard); grandchildren, Kurt Von, Jr., Bryan Christopher, H. Princeton, Brya Kimnita, M. Parker, Jahja, and Sahfi; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Hoyt was a load of fun and life of any day gone badly. His charisma and smile will be greatly missed. Dad never asked for much and was never a problem to care for; he always had something to say to make you laugh. I will greatly miss you. Love your daughter, Kim This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Hoyt Bentley Washington. You are invited to add a Tribute in his memory.
