Ida E. “Emmie” Dillon, age 81, of Marshall, died at Oaklawn Hospital Wednesday, December 31, 2008 while in the loving care of her family. Emmie was born March 5, 1927 in Marquette to James Glen and Emmeline (Wiltse) Decker. She moved to Marshall with her family when she was a child. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1945. Emmie was married on May 1, 1946 in Marshall to James E. Dillon. The couple lived here all of their married lives raising their family together. Emmie worked for 40 years at Calhoun County Juvenile Court, retiring as Judicial Clerk in 1989. Jim preceded her in death on March 2, 2007. She enjoyed reading . Emmie liked to sew, go out to eat with family and friends, and listening to classical music. Surviving are her children Jim (Cindy) Dillon Jr. of Marshall, Chris (Joe) Hall of Marshall, Julie (John) Ayres of Battle Creek, Michele (Hugh) Hendryx of Olivet and Karen (Douglas) Brubaker of Marshall; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Gregory Tyler Lautzenheiser, a great-grandson Peter J. Ferree III, and her sisters Ruth Chichester and Sarah Scolas. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Friday 2PM to 8PM with family present 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM to greet friends and share memories. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday Jan. 3, 2009 at 11AM at Kempf Funeral Home with Rev. Walter H. Nichols Jr. of Christian Fellowship Bible Church officiating. Interment will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Oaklawn Hospice or Tendercare Resident Council. Assistance with memorials available at Kempf Funeral Home.
