Born August 9th 1939 in Laredo TX, born to Emilio & Agapita Lopez. He was a brother to 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He met Benita Gallardo, in a bakery in Laredo, TX. They were married for 48 years. They moved to So. Houston, in 1968 when the oldest son Wicho was 8 yrs old.
He began working at So Houston City Cafe where he gave 33 years of service. He was known as the TOP CHEF...many can recall all the wonderful food he would cook for us. He always gave above and beyond at work. He fed Marvin Zindler, Astronauts, George Bush, all the City Police Dept. He was known for the food he would cook at City Cafe.
He cooked thanksgiving trimmings that were the best, especially his turkey Giblet gravy and the Ham Glaze Gravy. One of his best dishes were Chicken n' Dumplings, recalls Ariel Lopez.
All of the kids were raised on 1302 Michigan, in South Houston, TX. He is survived by Jose Luis, Jose Manuel, Reynaldo, Inez Jr, Araceli, Guillermo, David, Jose Juan, Esmeralda, daughter in laws Gloria, Becky, Patricia, Shelly, son in laws, Ernesto Gasca, Michael Rodriguez. 16 Grandkids, 6 Great Grandkids that are all Sally's Grandkids. Sisters Graciela, Jeanie, and Nina. Brother Leonardo and brother in laws Billy Johnston known as Mojado, Jerry, and Roy and plenty of nieces and nephews.
Fun things that he would take the kids to do were softball with the cousins, volleyball, fishing, and celebrating with the family. He always tried to keep the family together. Chavo, says he would always bring left overs from work to feed the stray dogs.
He would always have nicknames for everyone some to recall would be Maribel-Flaca, Becky- hamburgesas, Jennifer-coco, Ariel-gorda, Jacob-pelon and calliou, Destiny-gorda, Jessica-gordita, Anthony-mi Antonio, lil David-flaco, Ever-panson, Koreena-popcorn, Norma-chili.
However, his nickname was Miche and to Becky it was Chico.
