Irene Lucille Berglund, 91, formerly of Gwinn and Lost Creek, died Wednesday morning, June 8, 2011, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee. Mrs. Berglund was born on July 24, 1919 in Champion, a daughter of the late Thomas and Flora (Pinard) Mager and was a lifelong Marquette County resident. On April 11, 1942, she married Carl A. Berglund in Battle Creek, Michigan. Irene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, camping with her friends, and going for walks around her neighborhood. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Million of Marquette; one granddaughter, Tess (Paul) Jezek and a great granddaughter, Emma Jezek, both of Negaunee; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Berglund in 1996; also three siblings, Alden Mager, Doris Mager and Thomas Mager. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Hulke officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Skandia.
