Irene M. Bennett , 88 of Decatur, Alabama and formerly of Rolling Prairie, IN died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville, AL. She was born January 18, 1922 in South Haven, Michigan to Mary (Jensen) Pensinger and Loren J. Pensinger. On January 17, 1945 she married Clarence J. Bennett in South Bend, IN, who preceded her death on February 5, 1992. She worked for American Home Foods for twenty years, retiring in 1987 and was member of First FreeWill Baptist Church in Rolling Prairie prior to moving in 1998 to Alabama to live with her daughter. She is survived by one daughter Barbara (Gordon) Weathers of Reeds Spring, MO, three sons, Larry (Clara) Bennett of Warsaw, IN, Bruce (Beth) Bennett of Greenwood, IN and Steve Bennett of Whiting, IN. She has fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six brothers Harry Pensinger, Eugene Pensinger, George Pensinger, Loren Pensinger, Laverne Pensinger, and Glen Pensinger. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Clarence Bennett, one son Clarence (Jack) Bennett Jr., three sisters Virginia Gilbreath, Estelle Bosany, Grace Dreksler, and one brother Robert Pensinger. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & Monday, January 17, 2011 9:00 am - until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday January 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev.Hugh Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
