Irene M. L. DeGroot, a longtime resident of Melrose, died on Friday, September 23, 2011 at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Melrose, at age 92.

Mrs. DeGroot was born on January 26, 1919 in Boston, one of four daughters of the late Charles V. DeGroot and Marguerite (Ruff) DeGroot. She had worked for the U.S. government as a Secretary for many years. She was the dear sister of the late Cicely I. DeGroot, Mabel P. DeGroot, and Hilda M. Blackjohn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside Service honoring her life at Lakeside Cemetery, North Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, September 29 at 10 AM.
