Smoliniec, Irene (neeMalyszka), 56, passed away on December 13, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, December 17 at 8:30 AM from the Union Funeral Home (unionfuneralhome.com) 1600 Stuyvesant Ave., Union with the funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Newark and the interment to follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Bound Brook. The visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home with parastas at 7:30 PM. Irene was an executive secretary for New Jersey Transit of Maplewood for 27 years and a Master Cook at Kings in Short Hills where she taught cooking classes and worked with Julia Child, Wolfgang Puck and Martha Stewart. She was born in Newark and lived in Irvington and Maplewood before moving to Hillsborough recently. Irene was the beloved wife of Bogdan, the devoted daughter of Maria and the late Andrej Malyska, the dear sister of Erich Mayer and the late Maria Suchomel. She was the loving aunt of Ericka Suchomel and Monica, Sherry and Erich Mayer, Jr. and the dear niece of Magdalena Blasi and George Mayer of Germany.
