Beloved wife, mother, grandmother Batavia/Canandaigua- Irene (Matla) Vigneri Tretter, age 80, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Rochester General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Carl Tretter; five children, Christine Vigneri, Pat (Sherry) Vigneri, Terri Vigneri-Case (Howard Morgan), Frank (Diane) Vigneri Jr. and Joseph Vigneri; nine grandchildren, Alyson, Benjamin, and Marcus Case, Lenora, Amanda, Taylor, Seth, Dominick and Anthony Vigneri; brother, Gerald (Carol) Matla; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Frank S. Vigneri in 2002; and brother, Julian Matla. Mrs. Tretter was born in Batavia and was the daughter of Joseph and Sophie (Sulimowicz) Matla. She was raised in Oakfield and was a graduate of Elba Central School, class of 1950. She married Frank Vigneri in 1952 and shortly after that, they moved to Canandaigua where they owned and operated Farmer's Garden on Route 332. Mrs. Tretter was a member of St. Mary's Church and the St. Vincent dePaul Society at the church. She was also a member of the Centerfield Homemakers. Mrs. Tretter enjoyed arts and crafts and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Tretter, in 2006. They enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Pine Island, FL. She will be sadly missed, but joyfully remembered by her family and friends. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Rd., Bldg. 161, 1st floor, Rochester, NY 14618 or St. Vincent dePaul Society, 95 N.
