Isaac Mickens, Jr. was born on August 15, 1936 in Bishopville, South Carolina, to the late Isaac Mickens, Sr. and Gladys Bradley Mickens. Isaac was the eldest of all his siblings. He was united in holy matrimony on October 28, 1956 to Willie Mae Mickens and in this union was blessed with three children. He attended Dennis High School in Bishopville, South Carolina. On March 18, 1955, he moved to New Jersey. He was employed with Fisher Scientific in Somerville, New Jersey and retired from AristaCare in Plainfield in 2003. "Cuda" as he was called by his family, but known as "Baby" by friends, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to the racetrack and taking trips to South Carolina to visit his family and friends. He also enjoyed hanging out with his "boys" (close male friends) who formed a club back in the day called "The Log." He had a magnetic personality. There's not a person who ever knew him that didn't grow to respect, love and appreciate who he was as an individual and as a family man. On August 27, 2011, Isaac Mickens, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord in Edison, New Jersey. Isaac Mickens, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 55 years Willie Mae Mickens; two daughters, Ernestine (Darryl) Taylor and Wanda Robinson both in Linden, New Jersey ; son, Leon (Belinda) Mickens of Elizabeth, New Jersey; two brothers, Mason Mickens of Bishopville, South Carolina and Willie Mickens of Irvington, New Jersey; five sisters, Maggie Lou Slater and Jannie Joye both of Bishopville, South Carolina, Gladys Parker of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Lois (Johnny) Thomas of Chesapeake, Virginia and Daisy Mickens of Edison, New Jersey; three aunts, Edna Mickens of Richmond, Virginia, Mary Lou Scott of Plainfield, New Jersey, Annie Mae Scott of Elizabeth, New Jersey; two uncles, Mason Mickens of Bishopville, South Carolina and Wilton (Martha) Scott of Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Pennie (Bennie) and Annette Robinson both of Linden, New Jersey; two brothers-in-law, Lucious and Howard Robinson both of Linden, New Jersey; five grand-children, and twelve great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish in his memory is a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends. In lieu of flowers please make all donations to: Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church Scholarship Ministry.
