Iva M. Blackburn, 73, of the 100 block of Blue Heron Cove, Moyock, NC, passed away August 1, 2011, in Chesapeake, VA. A native of Bristol, RI, she was the daughter of the late Sarah and Alvin Edler, Sr., and the widow of William Blackburn. She retired as a Clerk with the City of Chesapeake Commissioner of the Revenue Office. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Beatrice Marie Winstead and her husband Jeffrey of Moyock, NC; three sons, Michael W. Blackburn and wife Julia of Severna Park, MD, Glen J. Blackburn and wife Barbara of Portsmouth, VA and William Blackburn, Jr. and partner Yamin Madera of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, Alvin Edler, Jr. and Raymond Edler, both of Bristol, RI; ten grandchildren, Dawn, Tommy, Sarah, Kelly, Chelsea, Courtney, Chris, Tori, Glen Jr., and Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Steven. A funeral mass will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Romeo B. Jasmin officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
