Services for J.C. Witte, 79, of Caldwell, are set for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m., also at the funeral home. Mr. Witte passed away December 21, 2010 In College Station, Texas. J.C. was born October 2, 1931, to Herman Witte and Ida Opperman Witte in Lyons, Texas. J.C. was a 31 year veteran of the Bryan, Texas fire department. He worked as a Dirt Contractor driving a tractor, loved trail rides and was a member of the Capitol of Texas Trail Ride and the Salt Grass trail ride and was a member of the Yegua riders. Survivors include; long time companion Lavelle (Bobbie) Heine, daughters and sons-in-law; Peggy Witte & Dennis Yenger of Caldwell, Brenda & James Stark of Cuero, Texas, Cynthia Rafferty of College Station, Sherry & Keith Crim of Caldwell, Shelly & Howard Chapman, Jr., of Caldwell, brothers and sisters-in-law; Havert & Darlene Witte of Huffman, Texas, Elfred Witte of Trinity, Texas, Gus Witte of Galena Park, Texas, Ernest & Gloria Witte of Brenham, sisters and brothers-in-law; Mae & Curtis Kirk of Ft. Worth, twin, M.C. Knesek of Spring, Texas, grandchildren; Lee Roy Stark, Michael Stark, Lindsey Stark, Ashley Spitzenberger, Macy Crim, Wayde Chapman, Emily Chapman, Austin Rafferty, Taylor Rafferty, great grandchildren; Madison and Trevor Spitzenberger, Olivia Johnson, Meredith and Kelsey Stark and first wife Lydia Klotz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife Shirley Isbell Witte, three brothers; Carl, Herman and Curtis Witte, two sisters; Ida Surovik, and Barbara Moore.
