Jack Boggs passed away Sunday, December 4th, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 8th, 1929, son of Leone and John Valentine Boggs, of Waseca, Minnesota, a proud Irish family. He was a resident of Stockton, CA, since 1938. He was the brother of Joseph Paul Boggs, (Deceased), and Thomas Patrick Boggs, (Deceased). For the past 35 years, Jack and the family of his brother, Joe Boggs, have donated a scholarship at St. Mary's High School for a local athlete. This was created in memoriam for their youngest brother, Thomas, and after the passing of his brother Joe, became the Boggs Brothers' Scholarship. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Irene West on January 17, 1953, and they enjoyed 58 years together. They had five daughters, Corinne Koenig, Robin Boggs Lauber, Elizabeth Peters, and the twins, Jennifer Yamnitz and Jeanette Boggs Reed, D.C. He was the proud and active grandfather of Justin Koenig, Jonathan Koenig, Kyle Lauber, Catherine Lauber, Aidan Boggs Reed, Grant Yamnitz, Claire Peters, and Cole Peters. He was a dedicated family man, devoted to his wife, children and grand-children. He enjoyed attending their sports and school events, always encouraging them to be active and be their best. He call his son-in-laws "The Power" and together they all lifted their fists and proclaimed their superiority. They included Mike Koenig, Fred Lauber, Marc Peters, Ed Yamnitz and Glenn Reed. He was the uncle of Kathy Balone, Michael Boggs, Leslie Boggs Sackschewsky, M.D., and Jolene Azevedo. He was a graduate of Stockton High School 1947, and serviced in the U.S. Army. He was a city softball player for 20 years including an award for Most Valuable catcher in the league. He was the owner of Jack Boggs Painting Company and held the oldest contracting license in Stockton, 55 years. He was a founding member of the Jester's Club, a local organization promoting sports in Stockton. He was a past president of the Lions Club of North Stockton and a member of the Pacific Athletic Club. His father took him and his brothers in 1946 to the Kezar Stadium to see the San Francisco Forty-Niners play which began his lifelong love affair with his favorite team. Jack was proud of his Irish culture and their traditions. He carried on those traditions by welcoming people into his home for a drink along with tales that always brought a laugh. He enjoyed celebrating his Irish heritage with St. Patrick's Day along with flying an Irish and an American flag in front of his home. He had a special way of making all who knew him feel they were a treasured friend, even if they had just met. He always had a funny story and an encouraging word. He also enjoyed playing pool, sports, cigars, Santa Cruz, music and sharing a beer with family and friends.
