Jack Cybert Elwood Jack C. Elwood passed away peacefully on September 11, 2011. Jack was born December 13, 1922 to Ogden Clark and Elsie Emerson Elwood in The Dalles, Oregon and was raised in Portland. While still in high school at Commerce High (now Cleveland High) Jack enlisted in the Oregon National Guard. When World War II broke out, Jack was able to enlist in the United States Marine Corp. Jack was stationed in the Pacific and served as a heavy equipment operator. He married Anne M. Morgese at St. Philip Neri in April 1945. Jack attended Lewis & Clark College and was in the transportation industry in the Portland area for over 50 years. He and Anne were longtime residents of the Sellwood/Westmoreland neighborhoods as well as members of St Agatha's Parish. They have spent the last fifteen years living in Milwaukie. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Anne, his sister Constance Waltz of Reno, children Laura (Michael) Klein of Vancouver, WA, John (Karol) Elwood of Federal Way, WA, Roslyn (Michael) Ellison of Bellevue, WA, Peter Elwood of Aloha, OR, and Mary (Brian) Shannon of Happy Valley, OR; his beloved grandchildren Brooke Jones, Parker Jones, Mackenzie Shannon and Taylor Shannon; and six Waltz nieces and nephew in the Reno area. The family would like to thank all of the people, including many of our dear friends, especially Kris Stauffer and Karen Jacobs, who's care and concern meant so much to Jack. We would especially like to thank Jack's long time physician, Dr. Randolph Bulger, Adventist Hospice, Danny from Assured at Home, and all of the staff at The Springs at Clackamas Woods, especially, Chad, Monika and Liza. Everyone's efforts kept Jack comfortable every step of his journey. Donations in Jack's name can be made to the Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon. Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
