Jack L. Horlick, 80, Overland Park, passed away September 29th, 2011 at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa with his family at his side. A celebration of Jack's life will be 10:00am Monday October 3rd at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf. A gathering of Jack's family and friends will be from 5-7:00pm Sunday at the chapel. Military graveside services will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be given to Hospice Advantage, 6340 Glenwood Suite 109, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
Jack was born in Brownell, Kansas and graduated from Brownell High School in 1951. He was an Army veteran serving in Japan. He worked in the grain elevator business for 36 years and retired as a former owner and manager in 1995. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie of the home, two daughters, Jacque Schippers and her husband Shug, Debra Horlick-Mills and her husband Darrel, Son Royal Horlick and his wife Kathleen, a sister, June Ruff and four grandchildren Kortney and Bryce Schippers, Austin and Alec Mills. Jack was a wonderful and loving husband. He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren brought him lots of Joy.
