HEWITT, Jack R. - of South Branch, formerly of Clio, age 79, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at West Branch Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 1 PM Saturday August 2, 2008 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Rev. David Spooner officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM until time of services. Memorials by the Order of Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge will take place at 11 AM. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Montrose Masonic Lodge or the American Heart Association.

Jack was born December 1, 1928 in Flint to the late Joseph and Bernida (Sears) Hewitt and was a resident of Clio moving to South Branch in 1987. Jack served in the US Navy from 1948-1950. He married Virginia Myers on June 23, 1967 in Clio. Jack retired from Complete Auto Transit in 1987 with 40 years seniority. He was a member of the Montrose Masonic Lodge #428 F & AM, Bay City Consistory and the Elf Khuraffeh Shrine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball.

Surviving are: his wife Virginia; 3 children, Gaye (John) Dekalita of Flushing, April (Allen) Bartz, Brian (Renee) Hewitt all of Clio; 5 stepchildren Ronald (Margaret) Myers of AL, Steven (Sandy) Myers of Gaylord, Mark (Judy) Myers of Clio, Judy (Robert) Severance of Mt. Morris, Jody (Mike) Gauthier of Mt. Morris; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley (Wayne) Wheeler of Swartz Creek, Peggy (Max) Jones of Clio; brother-in-law, Wayne Volz of South Branch; sister-in-law, Kay Hewitt of Montrose; many nieces and nephews.
