Jack Reeves Funeral services for Jack Reeves, 81, of Longview will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Mobberly Baptist Church of Longview with Dr. Greg Zackary, Kathleen Reeves and Chad Reeves officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park. Mr. Reeves passed away Thursday, July 14, at his home in Longview. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Reeves was born January 14, 1930 in Gladewater, TX to Homer and Magie Lee Reeves and had been a resident of Longview since 1962. He grew up in Gladewater and was a 1946 graduate of Gladewater High School. In 1949, he graduated from Baylor University with a bachelorï¿½s degree. He was the CEO of Reeves Oil and JRï¿½S Quick Stops. Jack was charter President of the Gladewater Jaycees and was selected outstanding Jaycee in 1955 and he was the past president of the Greggton Noon Lions Club. He was a member of the Texas Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association since 1963, and served as president for 2 years. He served on the Pine Tree School Board for 4 years, the Longview City Commission for 9 years and served as Mayor of Longview for 2 terms. Jack was the former secretary of the East Texas Council of Government, served on the Gregg County Appraisal District Board for 7 years. He was a member of the Greggton Methodist Church for 37 years, where he served on the board. He was the Sunday School Superintendent, chairman of the new sanctuary committee and was chairman of the finance committee. For the past 13 years, he was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Wanda Reeves of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Deby Reeves of Hallsville and Kyle and Kathleen Reeves of Gladewater; grandchildren, Chad Reeves of Springdale, AR, Brooke Reeves Garwood and husband Jerrell of Longview, Jason Reeves of Longview and Justin Reeves of Longview; and great grandson, Tucker Garwood.
