Mr. Jack Lee Tanner, age 76 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 22, 2011. Jack was born in Florence, SC to the late Wilbur Preston and Maurine Neatherie Tanner. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough. He was an Environmental Engineer for the City of McDonough and enjoyed working in his yard. He was a doer, thinker and a studier that reinvented himself multiple times. He epitomized what is American about the American dream. Hard working, never say die, dedicated, determined. But for those that knew him the best, they will miss his sense of humor the most. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce Tanner; sons, Sam (Wendy) Tanner of Virginia Beach, VA, Bill (Dee) Tanner of Locust Grove; special friend, Beth Manross of McDonough; sister, Nancy (Jim) Merck of Cumming; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Dr, Charles Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions are asked to be made to the First Baptist Church of McDonough in memory of Jack.
