LEXINGTON, Ky. - James Baker Hall, the former poet laureate for Kentucky, has died. He was 74.
Ed Noon, funeral director at Care Cremation & Funeral Service, confirmed Hall died of natural causes on Thursday. He was 74.
The University of Kentucky graduate was director of creative writing at the school for 25 years. He also taught at Stanford and New York universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Connecticut.
The Lexington native served as Kentucky's poet laureate from 2001 through 2003.
