JAMES BEEMAN STRANGE
February 1, 1928-November 19, 2011
Jim was born in Meridian Mississippi on February 1, 1928 to Ernest Tillman and Roxie Beeman Strange. He passed away on November 19, 2011 in Dallas Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and Marine Corps.
He graduated from Meridian High School where he led their football team as quarterback when they were selected to participate in the Blue-Grey Football Game in 1943. Throughout his life he was an avid golfer and athlete.
Jim attended Ole Miss and SMU where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he began a forty year career as an insurance agent. He opened his own independent insurance agency in Dallas in 1971.
He will be remembered for his strong Christian faith and active involvement as an elder at Central Christian Church and past president of the congregation. Jim was known for giving selflessly to friends and family throughout his life. His sense of humor and love of life will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were brothers Kenneth Tillman Strange, Woodrow L Strange, Ernest Donald Strange and sisters Frances Strange and Evelyn Strange.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gayle Boyd Strange and their four children Jim Strange and wife Sherry, John Strange and his wife Tara, Michael Strange and Pam Strange Henderson. Devoted grandfather to Kyle Henderson, Chad Strange, Trey Strange, Alessandra Strange, Trey Ferguson and Colton Ferguson, Dan Hartzell, David Moss and Lisa Gowins. He is also survived by numerous family members and loving friends.
A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside Drive Dallas TX 75209. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N Central Expressway, Suite 750 Dallas TX 75204.
Interment with military honors will take place at a later date in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
