James "Jim" McClave, 86 died peacefully on November 30, 2011 at his home in Stuart, Florida.

Born son of Roscoe Parke and Margaret Cummins McClave, Jim was the youngest of seven children.
He was born in Cliffside Park, New Jersey and lived most of his life in Hillsdale, New Jersey before moving to Stuart.

He was a commissioned U.S. Naval officer in WWII and a graduate of Princeton University class of 1950. Before retiring he worked as a civil engineer and partner with Thomas G. Fox of McClave and McClave Civil Engineers in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Jim also served as Chief Executive Officer of Hudson United Bank in Union City, New Jersey.

He was the longest active member of 63 years and three-time club champion at The Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell, New Jersey. Jim received an honorary lifetime membership award in 2007. He was also a member of Mariner Sands Country Club
in Stuart, Florida for 25 years.

Jim and his wife Helen were both avid amateur horticulturists and were recognized by the Bergen Record newspaper for their prized Day Lily gardens. Together they often shared their passion for Day Lily's with others through generous gifts of the unique flower.

He is survived by his wife Helen, son John, daughter-in-law Rosemarie and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice of Stuart, 1201 S.E. Indian Street Stuart, Florida or Stuart House of Hope, 5763 S.E. Federal Highway Stuart, Florida.

Services: A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Forest Hills Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart.
