James Edward Trowbridge went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2011 at the Veterans Home in Grand Rapids.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 27, 2011. Those wishing to share a memory may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
James was born on March 23, 1918 in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1937. James enlisted in the US Navy in 1941 seeing action at Guadalcanal, Sicily and Normandy. In 1944 he married Verneal Lamb. James worked at Kaywood Corporation for 34 years retiring in 1982. He loved the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and football fan.
James is survived by his six children; Dianne (Ron) McCord of Stevensville, James (Naomi) Trowbridge of Coopersville, MI, Ronald (Janet)
Trowbridge of Selma, NC, Gregory (Patricia) Trowbridge of Grand Rapids, Virginia Susan (Siegfried) Maerz of Grand Island, NY and Benjamin Trowbridge of Houston TX; fourteen grandchildren and 21 great-grand children; one brother, William Trowbridge; and numerous friends from Timber Ridge Manor in Berrien Springs and the Veterans Home in Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Katherine Rose Trowbridge in 1987, Verneal in 2002, two brothers and two sisters.
