James Frederick Loucks, 102 ½ , a lifelong resident of Scottdale, died early Monday morning, May 4, 2009 in Excela Health Jeannette Mercy Hospital, Hospice Unit where he had been a patientfor the past week.
He was born November 4, 1906 in Scottdale a son of the late Abram and Nettie Brown Loucks.
Affectionately known as "Jimmy", he loved his Church and his Church loved him. He was a proud life member of the Alverton Church of God where he taught Sunday School Classes for over 60 years. On his 100th birthday the Church membership dedicated a Bronze Plaque outside the room where he taught, naming it the James F. Loucks Sunday School Room, 5th and 6th Grades.
Jimmy was the caretaker for the Alverton Mennonite Cemetery for over 40 years, and also the Menese and Brown Cemeteries.
As one of the last generations of the Loucks Family and decendent of the Jacob and Peter Loucks Family Fram, where the community of Scottdale was founded made Jimmy the local Historian. He proudly drove his vehicle daily to the McDonald's Coffee Club, Mt. Pleasant Crossroads until his 101st birthday.
He was an avid dancer and enjoyed attending dance lessons in Connellsville for many years. He had modified a Willy's Jeep that he used for many years on the farm and for Cemetery work. Recently he had been a guest lecturer for the Gerontology Dept of California University Of PA as a Centurian.

He was first employed as a laborer for US Cast Iron Co., of Scottdale. Following a number of years of employment in Scottdale, he became a Pattern Maker for the former Walworth Foundry of South Greensburg with over 40 years service there. Afterwards he maintained the Schwartz Farm on 2nd Avenue in Scottdale until recently. Jimmy loved his Farmall Tractors and enjoyed attending area Heritage and Steam Festivals, the Fort Allen Tractor Shows and County Fairs. He was a skilled carpenter and woodworker as well.

Great Nice: Jennifer Lydia Schwartz Flack and her husband Richard and their Son Adam, with whom Jimmy resided.
Great Niece: Kathleen Loucks, Columbus, OH
Great Nephew: Kenneth Loucks, Columbus, OH
And a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Nephew: Kenneth Loucks Schwartz (January 11, 1990)
Niece-In-Law: Betty J. Roadman Schwartz (September 10, 2006)
Nephew: William Momeyer (July 2007)
Nephew: Earl Loucks, Jr. (1982)
Jimmy's family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Wednesday from 1 PM to 9 PM and Thursday from 9 AM to 10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM with Rev. Keith Solomon, Officiating.

Committal services and interment will follow in the Alverton Cemetery.
