James W. Garrard, 68, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he worked as a laborer with G.E. Corporation - Motors Division for 37 years, retiring in 1997. After retirement, he worked at Colonial Oaks Golf Course. He was a member of IUE Local 901 and Colonial Oaks Golf Club, and past member of Amateur Hockey Association of the United States. He loved his family and enjoyed religious music, golf, NASCAR racing and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Garrard of Fort Wayne; son, Richard (fiancé, Katrina Supakit of Raymore, MO) Garrard of Liberty, MO; sister, Kathy (Gary) Grepke of Columbia City. James was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene W. and Mary E. Garrard. Service is 1 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fr. Robert D'Souza officiating. Calling from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Waynedale.
