James Burton Gilbert, 69, of Lubbock, passed away on Oct. 7, 2010 at Covenant Hospital.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.

Jimmy was born to Vera and Jeff Gilbert in Royalty, TX on Nov. 10, 1940. He attended high school in Hamlin, TX. Jimmy married Nelda Herron on March 17, 1959 in Throckmorton, TX.

Jimmy was a lover of animals and his best friend Dagwood preceded him in death recently. He loved playing dominos with friends. Jimmy was a Baptist, Democrat, a Mason, and was a member of Lubbock Elks Lodge 1348. He worked for Fenner Tubbs Chrysler and Frontier Dodge for 40 years.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Nelda; daughter Cindy Fannin and husband, Wayland; son, Jim Gilbert and wife, Pam; daughter-in-law, Mitzi Gilbert; grandchildren, Shanel, Cami, Dustin, and Trevor; three great grandchildren; sister, Dean Starritt of Midland; and many close friends.
