James Franklin Gleason, 96, a 50 year resident of Churchton, and previously of Washington, D.C. died June 9 of respiratory failure at Capital Hospice in Arlington, Va. He was born October 30, 1912, in Washington, D.C. After graduating from high school, he became a draftsman for the Army Map Service. He was involved in the making of maps for the landing of Normandy in World War II. He loved the Chesapeake Bay and boating, and since his retirement 30 years ago, has spent his winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth A. Gleason whom he married in 1950; two daughters Barbara Vandergrift of Oakton, Va, and Nancy McComber of Las Vegas, Nev; one sister Barbara Mcinturff of Potomac; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren
