FORT WORTH -- James C. Head, 91, he went home to join his beloved wife of 60 years, Zettie, on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009.

Service: 3 p.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

James C. Head was born in Trafalgar, Ark., to Charles and Nora Head. He grew up on a farm in rural Arkansas and was a journeyman carpenter until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic in World War II. He had a passion for flying, which continued after his retirement from General Dynamics at A&W Aircraft, where he loved to rebuild all kinds of aircraft. He loved all animals, especially horses. He was a longtime member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed the many family gatherings and fun activities.

James was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

Survivors: Sons, Gary Head and wife, Dorothy, of Fort Worth and Tony Head of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Tracy Pratt and husband, Chris, of Cleburne, Casey Head of Fort Worth and Jordan Head of Austin; great-granddaughter, Harlie Pratt of Cleburne; and sister, George-Evelyn Williams of Texas City.
