James Stroud, 65, New Boston, died Tuesday November 16, 2010 at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 20, 2010 at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield with Pastor Jarrod Rapp officiating. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion
Post # 57 of Bucklin. Visitation will start at 9:00 am Friday November 19, 2010 at the funeral home with family receiving
friends from 6-8 pm. Memorials have been suggested to the New Boston Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, Missouri 64628. On-line condolences to www.rhodesfh.com.

James Irvin, son of Carl and Frankie (Shatto) Stroud was born on November 13, 1945 in Forker. On May 21, 1965 he married Dorothy Gardner in Brookfield. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969 and was a member of the American Legion Post # 57 of Bucklin. He was the Fire Chief of New Boston, did carpentry work until 1987, and was in the grave digging business until 2007. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed raising and taking care of his cows, hunting and fishing with family and friends.

James is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Pamela Stroud, WIlmington, North Carolina. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Shelly Cleveland and Michelle and Randy Bohonsky, Marceline. Four grandchildren, Ashley Duncan, Shelby Stroud, Kelsey and Derick Gardner. Four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Pat Stroud, Laclede. Paul and Carol Stroud, Granger, Texas. Ed and Carla Stroud, Branson. Carl and Flo Stroud, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary Alice and Joe Mrak, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Mildred O'Hair, Akron, Ohio. Shirley and Jerry Ramalia, Warsaw and Betty and Dale Standley, Bucklin. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

James is preceded in death by his parents, three nephews, one niece and farming partner Tracy Core on June 24, 2010.
