Mr. James J. Tsikerdanos, 81, of 358 S. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, died at 4:55 A.M., Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in his home. He had been in failing health for the past 3 years. Born May 7, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary S. (Hoehn) Tsikerdanos. He lived his early life in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Tsikerdanos received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland in 1970. He and his wife of over 48 years, Theodosia (Darla) Tsikerdanos, were married on June 24, 1963 in Athens, Greece. Mr. Tsikerdanos was a statistician for the American Petroleum Institute in Washington, D.C. He was also very proud of his work with the C.I.A. He is a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #731, Waynesboro and attended services at St. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Frederick, MD. Mr. Tsikerdanos enjoyed reading, Pittsburgh Steelers football, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, and the opera. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Steven J. Tsikerdanos of Laurel, Maryland, four grandsons, Scott Tsikerdanos, Alexander Tsikerdanos, James Tsikerdanos, and Paul Tsikerdanos; one sister, Marie Peabody of Vermont; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marjory Carvounis; and two brothers, Ernest Tsikerdanos and William Tsikderdanos. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 23, 2012, in St. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD, with the Very Reverend Archimandrite George Nikas as Presiding Priest. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA, 17202.
