James Francis Smith, age 65, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Round Rock, Texas. James was born August 8, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama to Francis Eugene and Sarah Oneida Smith. He married the former Diane Cloud on March 8, 1968 in Falkville, Alabama. He felt blessed by being married to his best friend for forty-two years.

James's favorite hobby was having backyard Barbeques for friends and families and enjoyed cooking for the Georgetown High School south wing as a special treat to the staff. He enjoyed cooking so much that he cooked on Thursday evenings for the Merchantile restaurant in Walburg where he became aquainted with many special friends. James was an avid Alabama football fan, and was so excited to be able to see Alabama win the National Championship. He was a member of the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America), and attended the First Baptist Church in Georgetown.

He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Diane Smith of Georgetown; children, Christopher Smith and wife Rebecca of Austin, Jason Smith and wife Mary Alice of Leander, and Erin Smith of Arlington, VA.; sisters, Janette Barclay and husband Lee of Keller, and Charlotte Seese Morgantown, WV.; and a large extended family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Ramsey Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Georgetown Community Clinic.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our Memorial Guestbook at www.ramseyfuneral.com.
