CARPENTER, James Lee James Lee Carpenter, 60, of Burlington, beloved husband of Jane (Thiem) Carpenter, died peacefully Sunday, (September 16, 2007) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late George Carpenter and the late Virginia McDonald. Jim was a vice president of government and institutional banking at Wachovia Bank. He was also an active leader in the economic development community, serving as a member of CEDAS and NEDA. Jim had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hiker, skier and enjoyed canoeing. An Eagle Scout himself, “Mr. C” served as an adult leader with Boy Scout Troop 23 of Burlington and the local chapter of The Order of the Arrow. Jim was also a motorsports enthusiast and a member of the Connecticut AutoCross and Rally Team, racing his prized Datsun 240Z. Jim was a member of the West Avon Congregational Church. A beloved husband, father and brother, he is survived by Jane (Thiem) Carpenter, his wife of 32 years; his sons, Jamie of Fraser, CO and Mark, a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; his sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Paul Kilker of York, PA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 19, 4-7 p.m. at Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 20, 11 a.m. at West Avon Congregational Church, 280 Country Club Rd., Avon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
