James L. Oates, 72, of Moline, IL died Tuesday, February 07, 2012 at Hope Creek Nursing Home, East Moline, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. immediately preceding the service. Burial of cremains will be at National Cemetery at a later date. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.

James was born on January 17, 1940 in Assumption, IL the son of Lloyd C. and Adolphine (Depree) Oates. He married Barbara Cook on January 17, 1979 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. James worked as an Assistant Director for AFSCME and was also a precinct comiteeman. He loved playing cards and most especially loved his Standardbred race horses.
