Hyde Park - James M. 'Jimmy' Burger, 71, a life long area resident, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Burger was a cook at the Hudson River State Hospital for 37 years until his retirement. He also worked at the Roosevelt Theater for 25 years.
Jimmy was known to be always willing to help his friends and family in whatever capacity.
He served for four years in the U.S. Army National Guard, and was a member of the Poughkeepsie Moose Club # 904.
Mr. Burger was an active member of the Hyde Park Baptist Church, where he enjoyed being a part of the church family.
Born in Poughkeepsie on October 8, 1936, he was the son of the late William and May Brauer Burger.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary, Rose, and Mabel; a brother, John; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Billy, and a sister, Shirley.
A period of visitation will take place from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Hyde Park Baptist Church, Rte. 9G, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the church. Pastor Richard Buccio and Pastor Peter Nargi will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hyde Park Baptist Church, 10 Romans Rd., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
