Marines Emblem

James T. Pappalardo, 89, died peacefully at home on April 14, 2019, after a long fight with prostate cancer. Born in Washington Heights on September 20, 1929, Jim was a graduate of St Ann's Academy and Fordham University, and a proud veteran of the United States Marines Corps, serving in Korea and Japan in the 1950s.

He was a well-known fixture of Peter Cooper, where he lived for over 50 years, and he will be sorely missed by those in the community and by the many people he touched with his gregarious warmth and kindness.

He is survived by his daughter Deirdre and son-in-law Dominic; his son James and daughter-in-law Angie; his three beloved grandchildren, Katie, Anna and Charlie; and his sister Diana and brother-in-law Bruno. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan, whom he married in 1966; his parents, Clara and Ernesto; and his siblings, Laura, Joseph, Elsie and Louis.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Semper Fi Fund or to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.
