James William "Jim" Barber - Age 76, a native of Shreveport, LA and a resident of Mobile, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in his home after a courageous struggle with heart disease.
Jim graduated from Southern Arkansas University in 1956, and retired from International Paper Company after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Moffett Road Baptist Church and he enjoyed playing the piano, watching sports and tending his yard and flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jenkins and Zenelle Barber; his brother, Robert Lon; and his wife, Doris Jane "Sug" Barber.
Jim is survived by his second wife, Jackie Lowrey Barber, his wife of eight years. He is also survived by his daughters, Sherri Barber (Ed) Greene of Chickasaw and Lisa Barber (Randy) Wilson of Auburn; his grandchildren, James Edward Greene, II, McKeene Barber (Katherine) Greene, William Thomas Greene and his fiance, Brittney; Rachel Christine Wilson, and Joshua Skye Wilson. He is also survived by Jackie's children, Sandra Kay Watkins, James Eugene (Julia) Lowrey, Terri Dianne (Joe) Oswalt, and William Scott (Allison) Lowrey, and their children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
