Hinsdale, N.H. – James W. "Jimmy" Dunleavy, 62, of Spring Street in Hinsdale, died early Saturday morning, November 28, 2009 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Brattleboro on February 10, 1947, the son of John and Helen (Baronas) Dunleavy. He was raised and educated in Brattleboro attending Brattleboro Union High School. He had been employed at C&S Grocers Wholesale for 23 years retiring in 2007 due to his failing health. Previously he had worked for Harry Slate Roofing, Brattleboro Roofing & Sheet Metal, the BookPress and at Marlboro College. He was a communicant at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Of his pastimes and interests, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and was a member of the Pine Grove Country Club in Spofford. A devoted family man, he especially enjoyed time spent with his grandsons. On August 10, 1985, in Heritage Park in Hinsdale he was married to Linda C. Wood who survives. Besides his wife of 24 years he leaves, one son, Justin Dunleavy of Berlin, N.H., a step-son, Nick Giammarco of Keene, a step-daughter, Angela Mathieu of Hinsdale, his two grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Mathieu, two brothers, John Dunleavy, Jr. of Milford, N.H. and Francis Dunleavy of Brattleboro, one sister, Rosemary George of Milford, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Susan Dunleavy and Carol Smith. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Richard O'Donnell, pastor, celebrant. Burial will be in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery on Orchard Street. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 P.M.
