James W. Joseph of Galloway Township, formerly of West Deptford on January 25, 2013. Aged 55 years. Legacy


A fun loving guy, Jim's outgoing personality helped him to make friends easily. He was an avid 8 handicap golfer, having played many courses all over the U.S. and British Isles. He especially enjoyed golf trips with his buddy, Rich. A passionate history buff, Jim and his family travelled extensively throughout the US and Europe visiting US National Parks and other historic sites. He was a 1976 graduate of West Deptford High and earned his B.S. from Stockton and his M.S. from Rutgers. Jim was employed for 33 years by the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Shellfisheries, retiring in 2011 as Bureau Chief.


He is the beloved husband of 35 years to his high school sweetheart, Deborah S. (nee Durham); devoted father of Elizabeth Tornese and her husband, Matthew and Kelly Joseph; loving son of Jane (nee Alexander) and the late Leon Joseph; loving Pop Pop of Joseph James Tornese; dear brother of Lee Joseph and his wife Virginia and Steven Joseph; Godfather of Christine Ward; uncle of Dan, Steve, Bobby and Greg.

Farewell Service

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Wednesday 6:30-9 PM and Thursday 10 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, where a Farewell Ceremony will be celebrated Thursday at 11 AM. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CanLiv (The Hepatobiliary Cancers Foundation) 164 Market Street, Suite 129, Charleston, S.C. 29401 Tributes and memories may be shared by clicking the "share a memory" link.
