Died peacefully December 12, 2011 with his wife and family by his side. He is survived by his wife Mary McCann, daughter, Debbie McCann, daughter Twilla and husband Ronnie Hinkle, son Bruce and wife Tina McCann, daughter Kimberly McCann, daughter Pam and husband Jon Greever. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren that he was very proud of, Randy and wife Jordan Hinkle, Rusty Hinkle, Kayla and Jessie McCann, James and Dalton Greever. He is also survived by a brother Wayne and wife Barbara McCann and sister Lois and husband Huey Richardson. He also survived by a very dear friend of the family Daphne Gardner. There are also many nieces and nephews that have looked up to and respected Uncle James. James is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Billy and a sister Della. James was born July 8, 1930 in Lelande, New Mexico to James and Inez McCann. He served in the Navy for 1 year and the Navy reserves for 6 years. James went to work as a truck driver in Arkansas but then moved to Salida Co and began work for Western Union. With Western Union the family was transferred from Colorado to Ozark Arkansas then Aurora Missouri and then settled in Dallas Tx. James worked for Western Union 20 years and then worked for the United States Post Office for 20 where he retired. James and Mary meet in July of 1954 and married on November 27th 1954 and lived happily together for 57 years. James has been a devoted member of the Cross Point Church of Christ in Grand Prairie formally know as Turnpike Church of Christ for 35 years and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. James was baptized in 1956 at the Salida Church of Christ and has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ ever since. We will especially miss all of the great stories he has told over the years. James was a man with a great sense of humor and the ability to laugh when everyone really needed their spirits to be lifted or just needed a laugh. Some of his stories may have gotten a little exaggerated, but that just made them even better. Visitation will be at Laurel Land Funeral home on Wednesday December 14th 6:00pm to 8:00pm and funeral services will be Thursday December 15th 10:00 am at Laurel Land funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cross Point Church of Christ building fund at P O Box 532309, Grand Prairie Tx 75053.
